Behind the Book
I played backgammon with my bff Tammy for hours. We were pretty evenly matched opponents although neither one of us could figure out how to use the doubling cube. It was only when I was writing this book that I finally figured it out! I was asked to write this book as work for hire by the original publisher, Sommerville House. Because it was a game I enjoyed so much as a young girl I thoroughly enjoyed the research and writing. I even pulled out my old original backgammon board (still have it!) and stuck numbered sticky notes all over the edge to help me with writing the directions.

Selected Reviews
The illustrations in the booklet are geared towards kids, with cute little cartoon characters representing the gamepieces. The instructions themselves are made easier to understand with a few history lessons on the game of backgammon thrown in. Who knew history could be made so entertaining?
Our family has a regular backgammon game, but my kids weren't intersted in playing it at all. But as soon as they saw this one, they bugged me to try it. Once I explained the basics of the game, we set out to play. They partnered up and played against me, and (with only breaking a rfew rules) managed to win the game.
