As a young girl, whether it was a diary, schoolwork, or plays for family and newsletters for friends, Lizann Flatt loved writing. She first saw her work in print as the winning story contest entry in Owl magazine. After she obtained an Honours BA in English from Wilfrid Laurier University she worked in the editorial department for Chickadee magazine. She held many positions there until becoming Editor of Chickadee, a position she enjoyed for several years before turning to raising a family.
Lizann has since had pieces published in Babybug and Highlights for Children magazines, Chicken Soup titles, and educational textbooks. In addition she is the author of several nonfiction books. Her most recent titles from Maple Tree Press are The Nature Treasury: A First Look at the Natural World and Let’s Go!: The Story of Getting from There to Here. She is also an instructor for the Institute of Children’s Literature, a freelance editor, and a volunteer with the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
